Many of Colin Fulcher’s (AKA Barney Bubblles) album covers to be seen

    I just found this
Which means it’s probably been around a while. ‘Tis a view of much of the Colin Fucher (AKA Barney Bubbles) ouvre, I could correct one or two things in the biography, but a it’s good show and worth a visit.

    Quite normal theatre.

In May 1983, Barney tells me that his parents had seen a picture of himself that you can see, uncaptioned apart from a date, in gorham’s book, Reasons to Be Cheerful, on page 136, where Barney has set up a picture, hands outstretched, as though he was hanging himself from the lamp. Barney says this was used as proof one time that “I was nuts.” Barney went on to say, “I don’t know why they chose that to show the shrink, I think it’s quite normal theatre, don’t you? I can think of a few things I’ve done to show being more weird than that, right?” The picture may be older than the 1980 it’s credited as in the gorham book, but considering the veracity its source that’s probably a correct date.

The Shepherds Bush Mob at the Rusoff’s

1968 or more possibly, March 1969, 28 Addison Gardens, watching BBC TV TW3(?) from far right: that’s writer and teacher, with Afghani soft-hat and moustache, Gary Rusoff; upagainstthewall with thoughtful hand on chin is the drama person in a cap, Carol Rusoff, both of whom whom we met at the Front Room Indian Restaurant on North End Road; Rudi, as in the song, takes a hit on the bong; next, with black Trilby embroidered with colorful braid lurks the secretive American draft protester ‘Rod’; all in white is high school teacher in Washinton State, Judi Cowper, whom we met through the Arts Lab crash pad switchboard; with tricorn and a blaze of light sits the Barney holding a torch (what I now call a flash light) probably hoping it would obscure his face; looks to be someone in a hooded mask, lower left, could be Judi’s husband, or it could have been, but wasn’t, the guy from the Moody Blues who lived upstairs, maybe it is Gary’s cousin Barbara(?), or it could be Diney Bercel just before she left for Florence, nope, I think she was there already; and I think that’s me top far-left, time lapse photographer, Wills, in cap, sweater and regalia.

Perhaps Gary or Carol will oblige us with their thoughts.

David, I showed your photo to Garry Rusoff a few years ago and he wasn’t sure who was who. I showed it to a friend on Facebook more recently and she thought one of the people might be Richard Neville of Oz, the paper which Garry sometimes wrote for. Not sure if you would find this interesting, but I recently wrote a book called Life After America, a memoir about the wild and crazy 1960s, which is about my first two years in Montreal as a draft resister, FBI fugitive, new immigrant, tabloid writer, journalist, and John Lennon’s accidental muse at the Montreal Bed-In. Garry has a brief cameo in the story. Carol does too but is indentified only as Garry’s girlfriend. The fellow who lived upstairs was Moody Blues’ Mike Pinder. He had a short marriage to Garry’s cousin, Donna Arkoff Roth, who went on to become an acclaimed Hollywood producer. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Life-After-America-memoir-about-ebook/dp/B0765VRXD9/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1516634908&sr=1-1&refinements=p_27%3AJoseph+Mark+Glazner

Hi after a couple of years I got back on my weblog and found your letter. I’m in infrequent contact with Garry. Not sure I know what picture you refer to….
